Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve
Meet and greet with our company driver / guide at the airport or your hotel in Nairobi for pick up and a summary briefing on what to expect on this safari. After, you will set off to Kenya’s most popular wilderness. Masai Mara National Reserve.
Marvel at the scenic Great Rift Valley as you journey along. Reach your accommodation in the afternoon, have lunch and later head out for a brief introductory game drive in the Mara. Drive back to your lodge / camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Game drives in Masai Mara National Reserve
Early morning breakfast and preparation to explore the Mara plains for a chance to witness the annual wildebeest migration along the Mara River depending on the time of the year you have visited the park. Nevertheless, Masai Mara NR has a lot to show with the different animal species that inhabit its grasslands and the hundreds of different bird species. Look out for the elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos (rare sightings), buffalos, zebras, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, gazelles among others.
You will have your lunch at a designated picnic spot near the Mara River and later, drive towards the Mara plains landscape for more wildlife viewing opportunities. Later in the evening, before you retreat to your lodge / camp, you will visit a Masai Village for some cultural and community experience.
Day 3: Transfer to Nairobi and Fly to Kigali
After you early morning breakfast, check out of your rooms and exit the park with one more game drive as you drive back to Nairobi to catch your flight to Rwanda, the land of many hills. You will be welcomed by your driver / guide at the airport in Kigali, who will later drive you to Volcanoes National Park to check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Community Visit
After breakfast, drive to Kinigi visitor center. For a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and regulations before you embark on the trek. You will be led by a ranger guide and tracker as you enter the forest to track down the great apes of Volcanoes National Park.
You will trek for about 2-6 hours depending on your physical fitness. Nature of habitat and the whereabouts of the mountain Gorillas. On finally finding the gorillas, you will be allowed an hour of close encounter with them. As you take photos and learn about their behaviors. Retreat back to the start point, where your driver will take you back to your hotel for some refreshments and relaxation. Later in the evening, you will visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a community and cultural experience.
Day 5: Transfer to Kigali
Wake up to a delicious breakfast at your lodge. Check out and prepare for your journey to Kigali for a beautiful city tour. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, a place of remembrance and learning. Visit the Kigali City Tower, museums and art centers. Drive to your hotel for check in and have your lunch. Spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoy the hotels available amentities.
Day 6: Departure
Wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast. Go do some final souvenir shopping. After your drive will drop you at the airport for your flight back home.
