Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Arusha National Park

Our company representative, driver / guide will pick you from your hotel in Arusha after your breakfast and you drive to Arusha National Park, your first stop on this 13 days safari in Tanzania. cUpon arrival, you will head out for a guided walking safari through the fresh green forest to the waterfall, as you enjoy the scenic natural beauty of the hills and the diverse flora and fauna in the park.

You will have a chance to see the wildlife up close in their natural habitat and also spot different bird species. Animals to see include giraffes, buffalos, waterbucks, warthogs, zebras and baboons. You will have a lunch break and then after head out for an afternoon game drive in the park till late in the evening when you return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you will depart Arusha for Lake Manyara National Park one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment consisting of a shallow but huge soda lake, which hosts thousands of flamingos at a specific time during the year.

You will do a mid-morning game drive in search of animals like the tree climbing lions (famous in this park), elephants, hippos, buffalos, giraffes, wildebeests, impalas and many others. Retreat from the activity and have your lunch as you recuperate before heading out for a late afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp/ lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Nainokanoka Village

Wake up to an early pre-breakfast game drive in Lake Manayara National Park for a chance to catch up with the predators on their morning kill. Retreat and drive back to your camp / lodge for a fresh hot breakfast after which you will leave the park and drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Arriving in time for lunch, you will enjoy your lunch then after drive to the Masai village of Nainokanoka. Experience culture and wildlife as you hike up to the rim of the Olmoti Crater. The reward of the climb is the great view that you get from the top of the crater edge. Retreat from the day’s activities and drive to your camp / lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Floor Exploration

A day of exploration in the amazingly beautiful scenic world famous Ngorongoro Crater. After your breakfast, you will drive to the crater rim with your packed lunch and descend into this wildlife dotted caldera. Home to over 25,000 animals including the rare endangered black rhinos and a dense population of predators namely the lions, cheetahs, jackals, the elusive leopards and hyenas.

While on the game drive, you will also get a chance to spot elephants, buffalos, hippos, wildebeests, antelopes, gazelles, warthogs and many more plus hundreds of different species of birds. Take a lunch break at a designated spot as you enjoy the view then ascend to the crater rim and drive back to your camp / lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After a fresh and delicious breakfast, you will depart for the Serengeti National park, the most popular park in Tanzania famously known for the annual Great Wildebeest Migration. With your lunch boxes, you will drive out of Ngorongoro heading to Serengeti NP where you will arrive in the afternoon and embark on an afternoon game drive in the great Serengeti.

The widely found animals in this park are wildebeests, gazelles, zebras, big cats, giraffes, elephants, elands, kongoni and topis among different species of birds. After the game viewing activity, you will be driven to your camp / lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Game drive in Serengeti National Park – Central

Wake up to a delicious breakfast in the wild after which you will set out for a whole day game viewing experience in the central region of Serengeti NP (the Seronera), the most popular region of the national park because of its large numbers of big cats (lions, cheetahs and leopards) and abundant wildlife which includes elephants, buffalos, impala, topi, hippos and crocodiles in the rivers, jackals, bat-eared foxes, warthogs, hyenas and many more.

You will have a break to have your picnic lunch at an allocated site there after head out for more game viewing opportunities with chances of witnessing the great migration happen in case you are in the park during the months of April – June and October – December. Pull out of the activity and drive back to your camp / lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Half day game drive in Serengeti National Park

Early morning game drive before sunrise for chances to catch up with the predators on their morning kill. After breakfast set out to the northern or western part of Serengeti with packed lunch boxes, in search of more animal action sightings you might have missed out yesterday.

Have a lunch break and then continue with your game drive after which head back for an evening of relaxation at your camp / lodge, enjoy the facility’s available services / amenities as you reminisce about the day’s activities ans sightings. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp / lodge.

Day 8 and 9: Visit the Olduvai Gorge and transfer to Karatu Village

Early morning breakfast thereafter, you check out and drive out of the park with one more game drive en-route as you drive to Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important archaeological sites of early human occupation and evolution. Visit the museum too and learn more about the archaeological and historical facts of human evolution. After your en-route lunch, you will proceed to Karatu village for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 10: Drive to Lake Eyasi

Rise and shine, have your breakfast and then prepare for a day of cultural experience and visit to Lake Eyasi, a seasonal shallow salt lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Lake Eyasi’s water levels vary greatly between the rainy and dry seasons and both seasons offer different sightings and the scenery of Lake Eyasi differs dramatically to that of the surrounding areas.

The Lake Eyasi area is home to the ancient Hadzabe tribe. They are believed to have lived here for nearly 10,000 years. After your lunch, you will go visit the Hadzabe Bushmen. A visit with the Bushmen is worthwhile, as they will graciously show you where and how they live and hunt. Learn all about their hunting and survival skills. Retreat from the village visit and drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Days 11 & 12: Depart for Tarangire National Park

After your breakfast we meet the Hadzabe Bushmen. Join them on their early morning hunting activity. After which you will drive to Tarangire National park, home to the African Elephants. On arrival you will head out for an afternoon game drive in Tarangire National Park.  After which you will drive to your camp / lodge for check in, dinner and overnight stay.

On day 2 in the Tarangire, you will have game drives at different times during the day. Increase your chances of spotting different animal species that roam the national park. Spot the big cats (lions and leopards) during the early morning game drive with chances of seeing them feast on their morning hunt as they are always more active in the cooler hours of the day and other predators like hyenas. Other animals to see in the Tarangire include elands, buffalos, the oryx, gerenuk, zebras, impalas and more including hundreds of different bird species.

Day 13: Back to Arusha

Pre-breakfast game drive in Tarangire National Park to catch up with the predators that traverse the park. Drive back to your camp / lodge have your breakfast. After depart for Arusha where you will be dropped at your hotel. Or at the airport to catch your flight back home.
