Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

You will be welcomed by our company representative / driver at the airport. Drive to your hotel in Kigali where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, your driver / guide will pick you up and drive you to Kigali for a half day city tour before you proceed to Volcanoes National Park. Kigali is a small city but one of the cleanest and most organized in Africa.

After the city tour, you will have lunch then proceed to Volcanoes National Park famous for the endangered mountain gorillas. Check into your hotel / lodge. You can choose to stay and relax or go visit the twin lakes or visit a cultural village. Dinner and overnight stay back at your hotel / lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Flight to Nairobi

This will be one of your most memorable days of your safari in East Africa. Early morning breakfast and drive to the park head offices where you will be briefed about gorilla trekking and also be allocated a gorilla family to trek. Led by the ranger guide, you will enter the forest in search of the mountain gorillas.

You will be allowed an hour with the gorillas, keeping the recommended distances, take pictures as you watch the gorillas in their natural habitat. Retreat and head bag to the head offices for your trekking certificates. Your driver will drive you to your hotel / lodge for lunch and after he will drop you at the Kigali airport for your flight to Nairobi, Kenya. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Nairobi.

Day 4: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve

Early morning meet with our company representative at your hotel in Nairobi after breakfast and drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, the most famous park in Kenya. You will have a stopover at the Great Rift Valley view point and marvel at its scenic environment while you take beautiful landscape photos.

You will reach Masai Mara NR in the afternoon, drive to your lodge / camp for lunch and then embark on an introductory game drive to the wild side of Magical Kenya. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge / camp.

Day 5: Game drives in Masai Mara National Reserve

Pre-sunrise game drive for chances of spotting Masai Mara’s predators and big cats on a morning hunt. Drive back to your lodge / camp after sunrise for breakfast. After breakfast, you’re your packed lunch boxes, had out explore the Mara plains for a chance to witness the annual wildebeest migration along the Mara River depending on the time of the year you have visited the park. Look out for the elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos (rare sightings), buffalos, zebras, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, gazelles, warthogs, hyenas, hippos, crocodiles among others.

You will have your lunch at an allocated picnic spot near the Mara River and later, drive towards the Mara plains landscape for more wildlife viewing opportunities. Later in the evening, before you retreat to your lodge / camp, you will visit a Masai Village for some cultural and community experience.

Day 6: Transfer from Masai Mara NR to Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast and a morning game drive you will depart the Mara for Serengeti National park across the border in Tanzania. In about 2 hours, you will arrive at the Isebania border where you stop for immigration formalities and early picnic lunch.
Thereafter, you will continue on into the world-famous Serengeti National Park for welcome game drive en route to your camp / lodge.

Serengeti National Park is home to huge populations of wildebeests, zebras, antelopes, predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs as well as herbivores including elephants, hippos, and giraffes. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp / lodge.

Day 7: Exploration of the Serengeti Plains

You will wake up to an early pre-breakfast game drive in the famous Serengeti National Park. Marvel at the beauty of this wilderness as you search for the big cats (lions, cheetahs, leopards) on the hunt for their morning meal or on a feast of their night kill. Drive back to the lodge for a delicious breakfast.

After breakfast, you will head back and roam the open plains of the Serengeti NP. Searching for the Big 5 African animals and (if the time is right) catch and marvel at the movements of the famous Wildebeest Migration. Have a break for your picnic lunch and then continue with the game viewing extravaganza. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp / lodge.

Day 8: Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, you will have on more game drive. As you exit the Serengeti NP to Ngorongoro Crater driving through the plains along the Seronera River Valley. Known for having a large collection of predators and the prey.

Continue your drive to the crater rim of Ngorongoro crater for a game drive. Expect to see giraffes around the crater rim. You will not find at the floor of the crater among other animals like impalas, topis, wildebeests and many more. You will have a picnic lunch out in the wild. Then continue with your game viewing experience. Retiring in the evening to your camp / lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater Exploration

After a delicious early morning breakfast, you will head out for a full day exploration of the amazing Ngorongoro Crater. Descend down into the scenic crater and marvel at its beauty. The different animal species that call it their home. Over 25,000 animals and over 450 different species of birds. A natural wonder with a whole year round water supply that attracts these many animals.
Expect to see the big cats (lions, cheetahs and leopards) with the latter rarely spotted. Spot other animals like elephants, buffalos, black rhinos, hippos, elands, wildebeests, zebras, oribis, waterbucks, Thomson gazelles and different species of birds. You will ascend to the rim to have your picnic lunch and later drive back to your camp / lodge for an evening of relaxation. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp / lodge.

Day 10: Departure – Arusha

Morning breakfast, pick up and transfer to Arusha airport to catch your flight back home. You will have a brief stop for some final souvenir shopping.
